The MHCSD Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing and setting policy for MHCSD, including approval of the annual budget. The Board governs 18 services as approved by the State of California including: water service, sewer service, garbage service, street lighting, telecommunication services, converting utilities to underground, road maintenance, transportation services, flood control protection, wildlife habitat mitigation, police protection, fire protection, graffiti abatement, pest and weed abatement, CC&R enforcement (Master Restrictions), library buildings and services, public recreation, and dissemination of information. The San Joaquin Board of Supervisors is responsible for all other services, including planning and building activities (implementation of the Master Plan, development agreements, zoning issues, subdivision maps and building permits), animal control, economic development, and code enforcement.

The full Board of Directors elects a President of the Board every year. Election of the Board President occurs at the regularly scheduled December meeting. The President serves at the pleasure of the Board and may only serve 2 consecutive years. Additional responsibilities of the President:
The Vice President fulfills the duties of the President when the President is unavailable. Otherwise the Vice President serves as a regular Board member.

Residents interested in serving on the Board of Directors must
register at the
County Registar of Voters office in San Joaquin.

Board Members are elected for 4 year terms.
Qualifications
Board members must be:
District Directors are elected "At Large". There is no requirement that a director reside in a particular "district" of Mountain House.
The MHCSD Board of Directors has created a number of committees to explore topics of interest to the Board. These independent committees meet periodically to develop and make recommendations for the full Board consideration. Generally, the committees are made up of 2 Board Members and 3 volunteer members chosen from Mountain House residents.

Services District Board meets every second Wednesday of the month
at 7pm in the Board Room at 230 South Sterling Drive.
Board meetings are open to the public.
